What is irspider?

irspider (internet relay spider) is a unix based search engine for IRC. irspider goes about and spiders (indexes) DCC bots on the channel it sits on. IRC users are then able to query irspider for matches against it's accumulated database, or request it to send a masslist of everything it has accumulated information on. It re-spiders all DCC bots on the channel it sits on every few minutes to keep it's database as fresh as possible. When a user queries irspider it will return (if matches exist) very detailed information on what it has matched, such as the name of the pack, the number of times it has been downloaded, the file size, and the actual pack number. Using irspider saves IRC users on the channel from manually listing dozens of DCC bots and getting spammed with notices in the process. IRC users find irspider extremely useful for rapidly finding whatever it is they are looking for, and also for it's masslisting capability. irspider can be used on mp3 or file based channels for these purposes, or just about any other purpose where DCC bots are involved.
